Fall River Road

Fall River Road

The Fall River Road was the first road to cross the Rocky Mountains in
northern Colorado. The unpaved mountain road climbed from Horseshoe Park up
the steep Fall River Valley over a series of tight switchbacks to reach Fall River Pass
at 11,796 feet; (3594 m) from there, the road is called Trail Ridge Road and
continues down the west side of the mountains to Grand Lake.

We get there in 2 hours from Denver. Great views above treeline. Tundra vegetation.
The road is adventures. We observed elk and a marmot crossing our street.
