South Dakota South Dakota
South Dakota is a Midwestern state in the United States.
It is named after the Lakota and Dakota (Sioux) American Indian tribes.
South Dakota was admitted to the Union on November 2, 1889

Home of several indian reservations. The Black Hills in the west and the
Badlands in the east. Second most indian population (after Alaska).

Very interesting history. Wounded Knee massacre 1890.

We came from Wyoming, drove through the Black Hills to Mount
Rushmore, fueled in Rapid City and had  a great Steak at Mad Mary's
in Black Hawk

Our next visit will be to the Wounded Knee Historic Site.

Crossing the state border and driving through the  Black Hills
