The following is an extract from a Skype chat between Heinz and  one of our
CCIE Security Bootcamp students from South-Africa during the Sept 2007 batch:

..this exercises really stretch your mind...

..although it is really intense, I am enjoying it and have learnt a huge amount..

..I wish the bootcamp was 4 weeks, it has been absolutely worth it till now and I'm sure next week will be good too..

..I don't know how anyone can even think of doing the exam without beeing drilled like this...

..the pressure is intense, 14-16 hours per day, 7 days a week, not for the faint hearted..

..but I can see a light, although dim at the moment..

"The Heinz Ulm Bootcamp is like a classical education in computer networking. He brings you back to the fundamental bits and bytes of IP networking. In doing so, you gain not just memorised information but an understanding of the concepts and procotols involved. As a result, the construction of switching, routing, redistribution and filtering configurations are far more intuitive.
The Bootcamp also helps you to develop vital exam techniques. The very nature of the course means that you build mental stamina and after three weeks of agressive preparation, you should be capable of 8.5 hours of concentration. You are also required to develop the attention to detail required in the real lab and it becomes obvious very quickly that no assumptions can be made at all.
Finally, the Bootcamp experience itself was very rewarding and I met some great friends during the three weeks. The setting is very informal and while the atmosphere is relax, there is also a collective focus with everyone working together to solve problems and ultimately get that number."

"I had the fortunate opportunity to attend a 3 week Heinz Ulm Bootcamp in preparation for my CCIE R&S Lab. I found the bootcamp extremely useful to practice the full scope of work for the R&S Lab blueprint, and specifically fine tune interpretation of Lab questions and configuration speed.
The Denver bootcamp location which I attended, has the advantage of providing accommodation in the same location where the Lab/workspace is located. This meant you are able to start as early, and continue working as late as you require, and being close to a bed when your configs start looking blurry from tiredness.
I recommend anyone that has the means and time available to attend a Heinz Ulm bootcamp, preferably about 1 month before attempting the Lab.          CCIE 34847 (South Africa)"
