About Heinz Ulm

I'm a  CCIE-"dinosaurus".

I passed the lab on first attempt in August 1995.

Cisco started counting the CCIE numbers beginning with 1024.

My CCIE number is 1561.

So I was among the first 600 CCIEs worldwide at that time. At the time of my exam passing there were about 80 CCIEs in Europe. Most of the CCIEs were in US because the program started there.

According to an info from the CCIE Program Manager in 2005 I was one of only 300 "10-years-CCIE" in the entire world !

Countries I have travelled to businesswise (now with many photos)

I have trained people from various companies and organizations, as well as at Cisco Paris, Cisco London and Cisco TAC Brussels (where I have done "new-hire"-, CRIC, CID, and SEDW - System Engineers Design Workshop - classes).

My bootcamp attendees were coming from these countries.

Since I'm conducting my CCIE Preparation Workshops (later called CCIE Bootcamp) I have trained and prepared  over 700 CCIEs for the exam, coming from many countries and companies , including Cisco.

'My CCIEs' are spread around the world

"The Heinz Ulm Bootcamp is like a classical education in computer networking. He brings you back to the fundamental bits and bytes of IP networking. In doing so, you gain not just memorised information but an understanding of the concepts and protocols involved. As a result, the construction of switching, routing, redistribution and filtering configurations are far more intuitive.
The Bootcamp also helps you to develop vital exam techniques. The very nature of the course means that you build mental stamina and after three weeks of agressive preparation, you should be capable of hours of concentration. You are also required to develop the attention to detail required in the real lab and it becomes obvious very quickly that no assumptions can be made at all.
Finally, the Bootcamp experience itself was very rewarding and I met some great friends during the three weeks. The setting is very informal and while the atmosphere is relax, there is also a collective focus with everyone working together to solve problems and ultimately get that number.
