from and about
my bootcamps:
(more here)

"I am excited,
happy, pleased,
relieved, and
grateful to be able
to announce that I
am now the 86..th
CCIE in the world.
Thank you Heinz
for the great
bootcamp and al
l the follow-ups."

"You did an

excellent job of
not only
preparing us
technically but
most importantly
"EMOTIONALLY."

"I am very happy
to write that I feel
10 times more
confidence to go
for the CCIE LAB
after attending
your three week
rigorous/ tough/
evil training."

"It was really a
great time in Your
Bootcamp in
Augsburg.I have
learned very
much. The
exercises were
excellent and we
have got many
valuable
information. I will
recommend Your
training to all my
friends"

"I have highly
benefited via this

three weeks long
drill of router
configurations. I
especially like the
last week of
troubleshooting.
This is the most
common less
practised area in
the LAB
preparation for all
the candidates.
That was money
well spent"

"I will definitely
encourage people
to go and attain
your training as a
good pre LAB
training like your
boot camp is
quite essential to
pass the CCIE

LAB."

"....But, just
speaking for me,
without the
experiences from
the bootcamp I'd
never made it"

"..look at the CCIE
number below ..
you know who I
thank for that :-)"

"Thank you again
for all your
guidance. Your
class was by far
the best
experience that I
have ever had for
learning and
developing
networking skills
in a Cisco
environment."

"I really wanted to
express my
gratitude to you for
the bootcamp.
Your methodology
and experience
go
together to
make a class tha
t is truly a learning
experience!"

"Thank you again
for your awesom
bootcamp as wel
l as being "THE
EVIL BASTARD"
-playing the
proctor role
throughout the
bootcamp. You
really have
prepared me well
technically and
most important of
all "emotionally"
for the exam. Like
I mentioned
earlier, I never
would have pass
without the
troubleshooting
week in your
bootcamp.
"

"I would like to
express my
deepest gratitude
for giving me the
priviledge to train
under you. I've
learned a lot from
the bootcamp,
particularly the
psychological
aspect of
preparing for the
exam. The
pressure you've
given us during
the training
became a major
contributor in
passing the exam
since it helped me
cope with the
demands of the
exam.
"

2005:
Celebrating 10 years being a CCIE as well as 10 years conducting bootcamps.

CCIE: the blackbelt of the networking/data communications industry.
CCIE: No other technical certification is as difficult or as prestigous as the CCIE.
CCIE: a nod to the ultimate, the apex of nerds, the god of geeks, the guru’s guru.
CCIE: by far the most difficult (and valuable)
CCIE: the gold star, the master level
CCIE: the elite of all internetworking industry certifications

CCIE Awards and recognitions

Three weeks for the students under the sky
Seven days of torture in a week of pain and frustration
Nine deviCes for the wannabees, doomed to configuration
And one drill sergeant, on his dark throne
In the Camps of Heinz Ulm where the damnation lie
One sergeant to rule them all, one goal to achIEve
One camp to bring them the number, and determination bind them
In the camps of Heinz Ulm where the damnation lie..

HEINZ ULM's CCIE R & S BOOTCAMPS
now including a 1 day-
IPv6-theory and hands-on
  • CCIE is the most respected high-level certification, recognized worldwide as the "doctorate" of networking.
  • Certified CCIEs are a highly-select group. Less than 3% of Cisco certified professionals become CCIEs.
  • Passing the exams is not easy. Hands-on experience is the best preparation.
I'm glad to announce that from 2005 I have several more trainers on staff
conducting CCNP Bootcamps and CCIE Security Bootcamps !

Registration procedure

Accomodation

Students from France, Sudan, Denmark, Abu Dhabi, Spain, Poland, Germany
(click picture to see more)

I'm conducting certified cisco classes since 1993 and  workshops/bootcamps
to prepare for the CCIE  exam since 1995.

Lowered prices (with interesting discount offers)

New pre-requisites

Extended trainings hours

One of  4 rows of rack-cabinets (17 rack-cabinets in total)
(click picture to see more)

More and changed excercises with more variety in the topologies

More lecturing, but due to expanded training and access hours still more
than 90 % hands-on

Additional lectures on learning techniques, learning psychology and
stress management
(I have found most people fail because they are their own enemies.
Panic and black-outs play a significant role when failing.
I considered this and put a special focus on it. Watch out !
The "evil-bastard" is waiting for you ! Once you've been falling in my
hands you won't be the same anymore. There are special stress-exercises.
My Bootcamp is tough, extremely tough.
Harder than the lab, as most CCIEs tell me. Expect some grey hair.
Don't say I haven't warned you).

Read here what others said about my trainings.

Some patch-fields, 3550 switches, a ISDN-PBX with five s0-buses in this rack
(click picture to see more)

Access to the equipment in the evening and even on weekends
(As long as you want.)

This gives you several advantages:
a) you can deepen your hands-on experience
b) you can experiment with different solutions ("many ways towards rome")
c) you can play with different topologies (I have enough exercises for this)
d) you can catch-up in case you are falling behind

17 rack-cabinets  in the training facility

Several modern and spacy trainingrooms

Students from Slovakia, Romania, Italy, USA

REMOTE ACCESS (VPN/IPSec).
Students of my r &s- and security-bootcamps get free remote access to their racks
after the bootcamp via VPN/IPSec Tunnel.

The camps are run under  my own administration

New pre-requisites

Due to experiences from past bootcamps a new requirement must be met
as a "prerequisite"
to be in my bootcamp.

You must proof CCNP status. or passed "written":
If you can't proof CCNP you must have
successfully done the CCIE-written.
The status must be achieved prior to the class start, not when
registering.
If you have the status already when registering, even better.

The reasons are quite simple. If someone doesn't meet this minimum requirement
the bootcamp cannot
be successfull, the exercises could not be completed successfully,
the student would dramatically fall
behind the other students, frustration and depression
can occur on the side of the student and
the fellow-students.

I'm experiencing more and more lacking knowledge with the students.

Books, books, books (just some of them...)

Romania and Slovakia meet at the whiteboard

I.e.:
Some have never sit in any official Cisco class or have similar experience.

Some have never heard of candidate defaults with EIGRP.
Some just don't know the difference between DCE and DTE cables.

The "must-haves"-books were already read (and understood, hopefully).

I will teach you the do's and dont's, deeper technical tricks, hints, tuning
and troubleshooting stuff.

Don't forget that 90 % of my bootcamp is hands-on.
My camp is thought to be the final class to be visited prior to the exam.
Pre-existing knowledge and experience will be deepened and polished.

Read here what others said about my trainings .
I like to maintain the worldwide known
high standard and reputation of my bootcamp .
I rather prefer one or two students less in my bootcamp than ones
who show up and
have never heard nor understood why OSPFs  virtual links may not use Area 0 as the transit area

(just as an example).

Extended training hours (and days)

The new extended training hours offer more time for lecturing and hands-on :
Each day 8.30 a.m. to 5 p.m. (except on fridays).  That's for the official hours.

But all students are and were staying until very late in the evening every day
(i.e. 10 pm, 11 pm or even after midnight).

Look at the time ! Long after midnight ! 1.39 !

Y
ou can get access to the equipment (in the evening and on weekends)
as long as you want (don't forget to get some sleep though).

Since the camps are conducted in my new (and owned) training facility,
the training and hands-on hours by the students have increased dramatically.

Actually everybody is working on both saturdays and sundays during
the weekend(s) embedded in the camp.

After the bootcamp the students can remotely access
their racks from anywhere in the world via a VPN/IPSec-Tunnel. This way they
can either continue their configs, or start over from scratch, or re-wire before leave
and do new scenarios.
All devices can be turned on/off remotely.

This guys are all CCIE now

Administration

I'm administering my classes myself, controlling the whole:
concept, idea, execution, content, dates, seats, exercises and such.
The concept will evolve permanently.
No two bootcamps will be the same.
Each bootcamp has revised, changed and new  exercises.
