Only as high as I reach can I grow, only as far as I seek can I go, only as deep as
I look can I see, only as much as I dream can I be.

I am living with my dad in Colorado and came to US in the summer of 2005 (from Germany).

I am a 9th grader at High School..

I like dressing up, acting and singing a lot and am dreaming of becoming a professional actor.

I can play with and without glasses and

I have performed in 3 musicals and 2 plays in 2007 and was in 3 musicals in  2008.

            2007:

Pictures from my shows here                                         As Larry in "Friday Knight Fever" 3 Roles ( Munchkin, General and Ozian) in "Wizard Of Oz" at the award-winning
            Northglenn Youth Theatre in Colorado.
As member of the adult chorus in "The Music Man" at the Englewood Fisher Auditorium

Original Broadway Poster
"The Music Man" was the most successful musical at Broadway at that time with 1375 shows.

My first role in a film production was in June 2007; "Suburban",  a drama/comedy (directed by Marty Lindsey)
which was shown
on the Denver Film Festival in Fall 2007.

My first non-singing play was in August 2007 in Parker, Colorado.
I played 'Wally Webb' in the American Classic  "Our Town" from Thornton  Wilder.

This play won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 1938.

In the play I am dieing of a burst appendix on a boy scout camping trip.

My next theater play was in "Information for Foreigners"  by  Griselda Gambaro ,  who is, without doubt, one of the most innovative and powerful writers in the world today. The drama leads audiences through scenes of torture and brutality.

The play was a  US premiere, directed by Maria Garcia and Hector Munoz and had 12 shows in September 2007 in Denver. Pictures here.

"Gambaro's theatre is testimony to the fact that even in democracy there is room and demand for politically conscious theatre."

                2008:

In Feb 2008 I played  the role of 'Zeke' in "High School Musical"

My next musical after that was "Selggin and the Battle of the Mollinduffs" by Rita Broderick; A world-premiere at the Denver Victorian Playhouse in March 2008

In April and May 2008 I  played the role of 'Jason' in "Falsettos" (by William Finn) at the award-winning  Next Stage Theater in Denver. Falsettos won 1992 Tony Awards for best book and musical score.

This is what the press said about the piece:
"A masterly feat of comic storytelling and ... visionary musical theater."---Variety
"What a treasure this is: brave and hilarious, charming, disarming, loaded with honestsentiment and cynicism."---N.Y. Newsday
In 1992 the production ran for 487 performances

Only 7 actors including me; more than 3 dozend songs of which I had several solos

A quirky, engaging musical that follows the exploits of neurotic and bisexual Marvin;
a challenging and touching musical with many (partially very complex) music styles. Tears guaranteed.

Les Dwier, musical director and many years active at New York's Broadway stated:
"This is the most challenging piece in my career"

"He's a great kid"
Janelle Christie,
"Trina" in "Falsettos"

"
i am so proud of adrian.  he is an exceptionally talented young man!" Adam Lee Brodner, producer "Falsettos"

"He's really a terrific young man and has a LOT to offer. You should be proud - you have a son that has tackled a role that not many teenagers could come close to getting right.  All of us at Next Stage love Adrian and wish him all the best in his future theatrical endeavors - which will be many." Gene Kato, director "Falsettos"

"You may know Ulm from news reports. He's the recent German immigrant and Centennial middle- schooler whose collarbone was broken (and worse) by bullies. His role as Marvin's angst-ridden son, Jason, is a most demanding one. Ulm's at his best singing comic ditties like "My Father's a Homo." Considering the 14-year-old moved to this country only three years ago, he's a remarkably developed actor for his age."
John Moore, Denver Post on April 25, 2008

Christopher Sieber, musical star in SPAMALOT and soon in SHREK at New York's Broadway wrote in an email to my dad:
"I want you to know, the entire broadway community is behind Adrian and you. If we can help in any way...we are here...all 300 or so of us!!
I would like to commend you for being such a great father as well....son's need their dads, and you are there for him!"

In June 2008 I took up Christopher Sieber on his invitation to come and visit him in New York.
It was a fantastic week. My dad and I met Christopher several times. He introduced us to several Broadway stars and
managed us free tickets (closest to stage)  to several shows, brought us to backstage and so much more.
We met Michael Rupert who was the very first "Marvin" in "Falsettos" more than 20 years ago. We met
Sutton Foster ("Inga" in "Young Frankenstein"), who also will be with Christopher Sieber in the new musical
"Shrek" starting early in 2009 at Broadway. We also met with Frank Conway who had established the
contact between us and Christopher Sieber. Both are great guys and I am very greatful for their hospitality.
We have been in this 5 shows: Spamalot, Young Frankenstein, Legally Blond, Avenue Q, Mamma Mia.

I'm glad to report my next project. I was cast for "Crazy For You", a Gershwin Musical by the
Performance Now Theatre Company to be played at the known  Lakewood Cultural Center  in February 2009.
'Crazy for You'  is the story of Bobby Child, a well-to-do 1930’s playboy, whose dream in life is to dance.
And despite the serious efforts of his mother and soon to be ex-fiancé, Bobby achieves his dream!
It’s a high-energy comedy which includes mistaken identity, plot twists, fabulous dance numbers,
and classic Gershwin music.
Directed by award-winning  Gene Kato, also  director of my "Falsettos"  musical in April/May 2008

I also joined the John Casablancas MTM acting/modeling school.
